Bauls 02:21
Bauls ===== Verse 1: A scream in the dark Lit by a blue moon The voices of the young Ring out but are gone in an instant The light makes white patterns On the black lawn The cotton in the grass Makes a good bed for all the bodies The silky seeds from the trees Fall like slow rain Chorus: Sing your watery song As the days grow long Verse 2: The beginning of the heat Stirs something inside Afflicted with the disease Of the wind, of the mind Cut a path through the dead branches To view the end of the day Chorus: Sing your watery song As the days grow long

Sweet Decay 03:41
Sweet Decay ========== What is the dirt that covers the land? Organic decay mingling with sand Standing on the surface that's barely crusted Magically, majestically maladjusted Flashbacks that flash-forward instead Looking around and listening To the thoughts inside their heads Lie outside, assume we're all inbred Worldwide bloodspill Global Nazi landfill A summer snowfall The smell and taste of The scentless, tasteless fallout The sweet flavor in doubt Find a drink in the pan-drought If you run, will it pan out? Or is it the same, if you just stand out, And wait For the darkness to come; Complete eclipse of the sun The world quickly dims and fades Did it really have to end this way? The world quickly dims and fades Did it really have to end this way? .

Zoe 03:29
Zoe === Surrounded by giraffes All you do is laugh Surrounded by furry friends You just pretend Surrounded by bright lights You take in the sights Just beginning to feel The warmth on your face Having the faintest idea Of the scope of this place Your eyes focus on The many different paths No need to go slow When you want to go fast You want to tell us everything You're already beginning to sing All the colors surround you Echoing - The sounds around you So much life in such A beautiful little girl Wonder what will be Your place in this world? You're trying to make sense Of the world beyond the fence

Borrow From Tomorrow =================== Out of play On display There's nothing to say About today All hope comes from tomorrow Forget the archival It's not about arrival It's really all about survival Heart holds and empty roads Filled with yesterday's sorrows Buried in sand On demand As fast as we can No time to plan All hope comes from tomorrow Looking out deep inside On a mountaintop in the mind Try to find a way to reach tomorrow In the future We'll wish we changed The past today_ - Not tomorrow

Purple With Red Flashes ==================== Smells like A cool night in June Bread done baking soon In pajamas watching cartoons Hair kissed under the moon Feels like Ever-shifting sand dune Handmade for your listening pleasure All of the sounds weighed and measured Tastes like: Warm dessert with ice cream Polka dots from your dreams An unpolluted stream Sugar candy factory steam Feels like A smooth that gleams The sounds for you to weigh and measure Handmade for your listening pleasure Looks like Purple with red flashes All spaces and dashes Girls with long lashes Matchbox car crashes Handmade for your listening pleasure All of the sounds weighed and measured

Gonzo 02:55
Gonzo ===== The truth is never told During the 9 to 5 If you're going to be crazy You have to get paid for it Or else you"re going to be - Locked up There had to be a whole new scene The only way was to make the big move To escape to the far perimeter Of a world that might have been Buy the ticket, take the ride Time to choose, now or later Take no pleasure in being right Not what you want to hear No more swimming, no more walking So much, then, for the road Well, at least, I'll know I was there, knee deep In the madness Before the deal - Went down Buy the ticket, take the ride Rain is poison, sex is death Some get rich, others die No more fun, no more games

Love Bug 04:42
Love Bug ======= We speak with our lights Early on summer nights Sounding out the magic code Illuminating attraction ode, Spinning around and around More and more tightly wound Could you come and dance with me? Hovering under leaves and trees Flying over the browns and greens Only each other's eyes we see On these warm evenings we dance Playing games of love and chance Swirlling we move together We have our moment, not forever We never, ever make a sound Is this love we have found? We each find a path, then we meet Wavering between grass and leaves Flashing with the desire to be seen Hidden kiss under the trees Such a random intersection If you happen to see the attraction -the attraction Spinning around and around More and more tightly wound We never, ever make a sound Is this loves we have found? Only each other do we see Floating in the spaces between Hovering on the edge of dreams Won't you come and dance with me? Won't you come and dance with me?

about

The origins of the Dead Fuzz album are a bit of a winding maze...

After finally completing and releasing the maven, Ypsilanti, and Aurora albums, instead of shifting gears to assemble a touring live band, the decision was made to "quickly" write and record an "immediate-sounding" rock album...

Originally, the album had a cohesive idea that had themes from the (then current) summer of 2007, including cicadas, because that summer was the emergence of the seven-year cicada swarm "Brood XIII" (yet another 13 for Wide-Eyed). The cicadas were to emerge around the time of a "blue moon" that summer; these ideas found their way into some of the lyrics that survived through to the final release.

Soon, it became apparent that the album would be a little less Sonics/Stooges/Ramones in overall sound,, and a lot more layered, stylistically all over the place.

Because of the cumulative exhaustion from constant recording over the previous six and a half years, as soon as it became obvious that what was being recorded was more complex than was originally intended, the group mutually agreed to a break from recording upon the album's completion.

This decision actually helped to raise the bar, individually and collectively, both wanting to make the best album possible, before taking a break from recording. The songs continued Wide-Eyed's collective tendency to balance darker subject matter with less serious aspects, all the way to the title of the album itself (which was originally the title of an instrumental, but used because of the multiple theme connections).

Love Bug makes a good bookend with Jetstream, as the band's last and first songs from the primary albums, but the Wide-Eyed story continued with the assembly and eventual release of Sky Pipes, the collection of B-Sides, alternate versions, and unreleased songs, the following year.

Dead Fuzz stands slightly apart from the rest of Wide-Eyed's albums, but remains equally identifiable as distinctly Wide-Eyed.

about

Wide-Eyed Ypsilanti, Michigan

Formed in the beginning of 2001, Wide-Eyed is Tina Lambright and Patrick Pyne. Despite being a duo, they rotated instruments for recordings to make full, band-oriented songs of varying sounds and styles. Their music can be generally described as experimental pop, or psychedelic rock, but avoiding cliches of any genre. Serious, funny, abstract or direct, despite the dressing, enjoyment is the focus ... more
