Commotion 05:15
Commotion ========== There was a young lad Lived with his mom and dad You wanna hear noise you know you really want to You gotta hear noise you know you really want to You wanna hear noise you know you really got to You gotta hear noise you know you really got to He knew a lot about a small space He had noise come slap him in the face So he did not know time or place Got to Want to You wanna make noise you know you really want to You gotta make noise you know you really want to You wanna make noise you know you really got to You gotta make noise you know you really got to He Heard Music (Ms. Python: "Why do you kids always have to make such a commotion?")

Buca 04:15
Buca ==== From your mouth Invisible clown lips move One and the same The restaurant and his stage name Beppo, Beppo... Beppo___ Glimpse the obsession Then hide the regression There are already plans in place In the basement Innocent eater At lunch from his job I am witness to the horror A hit from an imagined mob From his mouth Soft words Before the shouting began He never even ran Beppo, Beppo... Beppo___ Blood, wine or tomato sauce, No one can distinguish the three You'd better have another drink To look again and see If what you think you saw Was really what you thought you saw And if it was all really true ("Raow") Glimpse the aggression That led to the transgression All could see the plan taking place In the basement From their mouths Lips shape the words That cannot begin to tell Just how far This clown Fell__

Should Have Known It Was Dead ========================== Empty spaces Void of faces Wouldn't you know Out of all the places It would be here Should have known it was dead Cracks in the streets Nobody speaks There's no sound, no music, No feel, no beat Definitely not here Should have known it was dead Broken glass It's in the past It'd be better if you just didn't ask What happened here? Should have known it was dead

Warm 04:01
Warm ===== Stop, stare It fills up the air Is it just me? Do they hear what i see? If you looked right here You could lose your fears And maybe it's a comforting form And maybe it keeps you warm Time designned to find your mind Time refined to fill your mind Time is mine to find If you looked right here You could lose your fears Maybe it's the attractive form Maybe it makes you warm Walking home in the cold You see the lights ahead Coming in from the storm Go to the fire to get warm If you looked right here You could lose your fears Maybe the strength will form Maybe you're getting warm

Shaggy 03:02
Shaggy ====== The way your face is looking saggy Reminds me of something raggedy Like a doll, but your eyes are baggy Keepin' time, but the beats are draggy Still you're not concerned With the way your candle burns To the middle from both ends Do you consider yourself your friend? You've got a dog, but her name is Maggie So tell me why they call you "Shaggy" Playing with time, but the beats are draggy Is it because of that fat, little baggie? The slow motion turns A gradual burn What's coming 'round the bend? - It could be the end.

Water Boiled 05:17
Water Boiled ========== The air I breathe Is poison to me But still i breathe all the same An endless search For life on Earth Wishing it was just a game Lots of sound But no one around Children's rhymes Seem to pass the time Bored depression Is hard to beat I drink my water boiled Even that is spoiled let alone everything I eat It's hard to relax Waiting on surprise attacks Emotions like wax I start seeing the cracks Far past logic and facts Still I've gotta watch my back Lots of sound but no one around I don't know about A thousand years from now Or a hundred or even just one When things go this way It's a welcome day When the Earth gets swallowed by the sun

Hidden Drive 04:18
Hidden Drive ============ Half a day off in another week So many questions that never speak Earplugs might just ruin the taste Of the solid sculpture reduced to paste Fell to the concrete From the sky Rising from his knees With a hidden drive Half a day off in an unending week The devil in the details that no one speaks Earplugs might just ruin the taste Of the solid sculpture reduced to paste Fell to her knees From the sky Rising from the concrete With a hidden drive

Boxes 02:36
Boxes ===== Building boxes, Got to build the boxes We're a higher animal, We leave the dirt behind Carpet and four walls Are what we have in mind Fixtures, frames and furniture Add our own design Build the boxes, We've got to build more boxes The roof and the windows Will keep out the elements No insects or intruders Are all added benefits Everyone wants their own place, Either castle or tenement What do you think, wood grows on trees? Just pick the apple 'cause it's free? Might work for them, but not you and me. Why can't we just walk away and Let it be? All these people must have a place; Doesn't matter if this leaves no empty space. Everyone needs a baby with a matching face As long as we keep this up, there won't Be a trace. Building boxes, Build more boxes Do you have a place with a spiral stair? Maybe a home always recirculating air? Just make sure to give it that personal flair. Why don't you just put that couch over there?

Distraction 03:15
Distraction ========= Endless advertisements Filled with truths half full It's reached saturation They're pushing while they pull Rain falling down til everybody drowns So many traps, kind of makes you Feel like you might - snap I can reach a state Where I dread interaction Not out of hate - just overloaded To distraction Complex infractions When criminals use the laws Then they vanish behind a clause And take a bow at the applause You're losing traction, Falling to distraction Constant interruptions Never a word to the wise If I can't see behind it, At least I see the disguise Getting cut down pound for pound Stuck and jammed, kind of makes you Feel like you've been - slammed I can reach a state Where I dread interaction Not out of hate, just overloaded To distraction What's your' distraction?

Keep My Word 03:01
Keep My Word =========== You listen, but with no response As I talk about things I never seem to do A tell-tale smirk behind those eyes Because you know right now, I have no follow-through Why can't I ever do as I say?! Why do I promise everyday?! Why is it that I have no shame?! Why am I so fucking lame?! If only I would just get off my ass There's so much that I want to do Why do I keep repeating the past? I guess it's just because I'm not in the mood Keep my word Keep my word Keep my word I might be ready for a change of pace Maybe for once I'll keep my word Can't stand dropping out of the race Sick and tired of looking absurd Keep my word Keep my word Keep my word

Wish Away 03:21
Wish Away ========= Wish away the endless night Concentrate and all is bright Who are you but the setting sun? What remains when the day is done? Only the clear evening sky A billion stars, a billion eyes Wish away the endless day The thrashing winds, the leaves in fray Who are you in the morning's dawn? What is seen when the dark is gone? Hiding in the clear, star-filled sky A billion eyes, a billion "why"s It's only a wish away It's only a wish away

about

After LUCK was finally completed in 2003, the band decided to start working on their 2nd and 3rd albums at the same time, maven being more of a rock album with psychedelic touches, and Aurora being more of a psychedelic album with some rock/pop moments.

The first version of maven was released 9/28/2004; that version contained songs that would eventually be on the final release versions of maven, Aurora, Sky Pipes, or remain unreleased altogether.

To Wide-Eyed, maven was always considered to be the second album, despite working on both at the same time, and the Ypsilanti Records release in 2005, only confusing the chronology further, bumping Aurora to being album #4.

This is why the early release dates are used, to help establish by year, the order of the albums, as the band intended, and clarifying the chronology.

Work continued, until both maven and Aurora albums were completed
The final track listing and running order wasn't decided until 8/23/2006
The final version of maven was released at the same time as Aurora, on 5/23/2007.

And yes, maven is spelled in all lower case letters. This is in juxtaposition to LUCK being in all capital letters (partly because of Todd Lambright's tattoo, also being in all caps), and Patrick points out an additional interpretation for maven's spelling:

"It can also be seen as not needing to broadcast or sell oneself; the commonality of ability, even if the individual is unaware of it. Most people have at least one thing they can do well."

about

Wide-Eyed Ypsilanti, Michigan

Formed in the beginning of 2001, Wide-Eyed is Tina Lambright and Patrick Pyne. Despite being a duo, they rotated instruments for recordings to make full, band-oriented songs of varying sounds and styles. Their music can be generally described as experimental pop, or psychedelic rock, but avoiding cliches of any genre. Serious, funny, abstract or direct, despite the dressing, enjoyment is the focus ... more
