about

This song was a silly romp into surrealism, and distinct non-seriousness. It was also an intentional nudge against conservatism and a song "not for the parents".

Clearly, it went a little far, as was the intention, to almost replicate in song, what a drunken/stoned night might be (by 3:30, when the subjects are pretty tight - ergo the title).

The song was never fully developed, because, while it was a fun, and sarcastic bit for the band, with Sonic Youth influenced music backing up the crazy "story", it was almost unanimously misunderstood by others. So, while, it could be easily buried, I'm choosing to share one of our more offbeat (and "infamous", by some peoples' opinions) songs.

It was meant in non-serious, good fun, but not undermining the seriousness of substance abuse and, for some people (not in the band), alcohol or drug issues. This song is not being insensitive to those issues, but was a momentary attempt to paint a surreal picture of one late night for the characters in the story.
For many reasons, the song was retired, but is shared with you here, showing some of the "outer realms" of the band's music.

lyrics

3:30
====

(Tina as LInus the Cat):
Now I've got to look through these
Long tall things that sway - back and forth
Where's my window?

(Patrick as the observer):
Sometimes
People are having fun
And it sounds like they're fighting
And then you look out
And everything's fine
- Thought I was hearing one ting
Just hearing another

(T) Hey you..

(P) Hey!

(T) So...

(P) so what?

(T) What's goin' on?

(P) Just getting my... shit together

(T) Are you ready to hear what he said?

(P) Just one minute... No, go ahead (Fuck!)

(T) Are you ok?

(P) Yeah - I'm ok - thanks. Sorry.
Now I'm ready- -

(T) Ok.

------

(T) I'm trying to drink...

(P) Why?

(T) To drink a LOT
- But it's hard... Hard to drink
Too... full this way...

(P) (oh) What am i THINKING?
- Did you .... want this back?

(T) No... I'm good.

Wide-Eyed Ypsilanti, Michigan

Formed in the beginning of 2001, Wide-Eyed is Tina Lambright and Patrick Pyne. Despite being a duo, they rotated instruments for recordings to make full, band-oriented songs of varying sounds and styles. Their music can be generally described as experimental pop, or psychedelic rock, but avoiding cliches of any genre. Serious, funny, abstract or direct, despite the dressing, enjoyment is the focus ... more
