about

This was the final song that we were working on, when the band split.
Though it was still clearly in the demo phase, the structure was already laid down, and these tracks may have remained, had the song been completed.

Although there were no vocals recorded, I decided to include the lyrics, because they were an essential aspect of the song, despite being somewhat painful and revealing, for me personally. The lyrics were a joint effort, as was the music, approach, arrangement (and what it would have developed into), just as the band as a whole, had been.

lyrics

Graphic Heart 5/13/8
===================

You rip out my heart
You throw it on the ground
It lies there in the dirt
We both look down at it
Is it still beating?

Can you play / the part?
Or do you aim / the dart?
Will you create the art,
Or tear / apart
My graphic heart?

I staged a stand off today
But no one came
Held my heart for ransom trade
But no one paid

You asked / for / a raincheck
But it's supposed / to rain / tomorrow
Wonder if / all that water
Will wash away / my sorrow?

It beats in your hands
Red drops in the dirt
Without making demands
You ask for my hurt
We both look down at it
It's out of the cage
This graphic heart

Do you aim / the dart?
Can you play / the part?
Will you create the art
Or tear / apart
My graphic heart

Do you create the dart?
Play the art? Aim the part?
Torn at the start
The two sides, one part
Out of its cage
This graphic heart

Despite being a duo, they rotated instruments for recordings to make full, band-oriented songs of varying sounds and styles. Their music can be generally described as experimental pop, or psychedelic rock, but avoiding cliches of any genre. Serious, funny, abstract or direct, despite the dressing, enjoyment is the focus ... more
