Final track from Wide-Eyed's Ypsilanti Records 6/28/5 release, which contained 2 sets of 5 solo recordings each, written and recorded over a month, in the midst of working on the maven and Aurora albums (all at the same time)
The last section of the track, was originally conceived as being a sort of a hidden song on the cd, but with many forms of digital audio playback, a timeline/progress bar/waveform appears, so the track is far from "hidden". We could've separated the parts, and included it as a genuinely hidden and invisible track, that you wouldn't know about until you played the abum, but we decided to just present it openly.
It has been suggested to Patrick, that this seemed to be an homage/nod to the end of the Jimi Hendrix Experience's "Axis Bold As Love" album, to which he admits a great love and influence from Jimi Hendrix (despite Patrick's very different style of playing, except in this relatively rare lead style freakout), but says that it was, at most, a subconscious homage, especially because that moment at the end of "Bold As Love" is one of Patrick's personal all-time favorite moments in all of recorded music, and feels that for him to attempt any conscious homage, would only be a pale imitation of the original;
"I was thinking much more along the lines of Dean Ween, though i am nowhere near the guitarist he is, either. It was a good place to let go, and unleash a little bit, in a style of playing not so commonly a part of Wide-Eyed's repertoire, despite our intentional diversity.
I rarely play like this (publicly), because i feel that so many others do it much better, but I felt it here. Thankfully no one saw the ridiculous faces I'm sure i made, as i briefly lost my mind, recording this at high volumes, making it more of a full body experience, than just noodling and feedback"

Lost Dog
========
Even when you
Were just brand new
Less than one year old
Didn't fit the mold
Hard to be judged
For unseen brains
Surrounded by people
On the train
Something about this body
Made them disregard
Whether or not
She was actually marred
But sweet
On the inside
The mutt
Keeps roaming
From street to street
Not even a chance
For a second glance
She walks through the crowd
The silence is loud
Ignoring the fact
She's being ignored
She's not interested
But she's not bored
It seems she's winning
A different race
If you catch a glimpse
Of the smile on her face
Sweet on the inside
The mutt keeps roaming
From street to street
Formed in the beginning of 2001, Wide-Eyed is Tina Lambright and Patrick Pyne. Despite being a duo, they rotated instruments
for recordings to make full, band-oriented songs of varying sounds and styles. Their music can be generally described as experimental pop, or psychedelic rock, but avoiding cliches of any genre. Serious, funny, abstract or direct, despite the dressing, enjoyment is the focus...more
