about

Though it was not planned this way at all, this song, being the final track of the band's 5th and final "proper" album, was sort of the "bookend" track to "Jetstream" (the opening track on their debut album, LUCK).

While the two songs have very different lyrical content, they still seem to fit well together as opposite ends of the group's catalog of material, or at least, it can be easily read into, in that way with hindsight.

lyrics

Love Bug
=======

We speak with our lights
Early on summer nights

Sounding out the magic code
Illuminating attraction ode,

Spinning around and around
More and more tightly wound

Could you come and dance with me?
Hovering under leaves and trees
Flying over the browns and greens
Only each other's eyes we see

On these warm evenings we dance
Playing games of love and chance
Swirlling we move together
We have our moment, not forever

We never, ever make a sound
Is this love we have found?
We each find a path, then we meet
Wavering between grass and leaves
Flashing with the desire to be seen
Hidden kiss under the trees

Such a random intersection
If you happen to see the attraction
-the attraction

Spinning around and around
More and more tightly wound

We never, ever make a sound
Is this loves we have found?
Only each other do we see
Floating in the spaces between
Hovering on the edge of dreams
Won't you come and dance with me?
Won't you come and dance with me?

Wide-Eyed Ypsilanti, Michigan

Formed in the beginning of 2001, Wide-Eyed is Tina Lambright and Patrick Pyne. Despite being a duo, they rotated instruments for recordings to make full, band-oriented songs of varying sounds and styles. Their music can be generally described as experimental pop, or psychedelic rock, but avoiding cliches of any genre. Serious, funny, abstract or direct, despite the dressing, enjoyment is the focus ... more
