about

Original version of the song, where the rhythm track was used, after this song was retired, and became Buzz Got Killed (from maven), while the lyrical theme was re-expressed in Colorbind (from LUCK). This Version was a brief dabbling in the direction of psychedelic hip-hop, and was somewhat directly making its anti-racist statements, though the band felt those sentiments were better expressed in Colorbind.

lyrics

New Mold
========

The track runs in a figure-eight
Condemned to another lap
To see before your eyes
The chemistry that fills the gap

Every day I face this attack
But it's time to expose an unseen fact
Do you suppose that you know
How it flows?
But I can shift the beat,
And let it repeat,
Regardless of the color of my meat
The beat is in the mind
Where you find
You bind your very soul
To a pole of fear -
You could raise the bar,
but you make it a spear
One of us becomes our very dear
Stereotypes of old
No one race can hold the deed on soul
So get out of the hole
Of the racist mole
Time to sculpt a brand new mold

The figure-eight continues on
Exhausted, you run beyond
Of all of the unknown
Strength that you tap
As you hope for another lap

The track runs in a figure-eight
Condemned to another lap
To see before your eyes
The chemistry that fills the gap

You suppose that you know
How it flows?
But I can shift the beat,
And let it repeat,
Regardless of the color of my meat
The beat is in the mind
Where you find
You bind your very soul
To a pole of fear -
You could raise the bar,
but you make it a spear

The figure-eight continues on
Exhausted, you run beyond
Every day I face this attack
But flip it around,
And here it comes back

Formed in the beginning of 2001, Wide-Eyed is Tina Lambright and Patrick Pyne. Despite being a duo, they rotated instruments for recordings to make full, band-oriented songs of varying sounds and styles. Their music can be generally described as experimental pop, or psychedelic rock, but avoiding cliches of any genre. Serious, funny, abstract or direct, despite the dressing, enjoyment is the focus ... more
