about

This was the second to last song the band ever recorded (the final one being "Graphic Heart").
Although it was unfinished, it had already gone through a few stages of evolutions, and at least two prior (music) re-writes.

The lyrics were all comprised of story or book titles by Philip K. Dick, initially written in song form, just for fun, to see if I could piece together a story that made some sort of sense, just out of the story names. Then we fit it together with some music (had vocal melodies in mind), and the music started to take shape.

Had the song been finished, it most likely would have retained this guitar track, and possibly these drums, but with the other accompanying layers added to it, the My Bloody Valentine influence might have appeared less obvious, than it does here - or maybe not, who knows? Regardless, here is the song, for you to enjoy.

lyrics

Upon The Dull Earth (4/4/8)
======================

Time
Out of joint
The cosmic puppets
The crack in space

Eye
In the sky
The penultimate truth
We can build you

Counter-clock world
A maze of death
Flow my tears,
The policeman said
-confessions-
Of a crap artist
Dr. Bloodmoney
The man in the high castle

The unteleported man

Martian
Time slip
Now wait
For last year

Solar lottery
-do androids dream
Of electric sheep?

Wide-Eyed Ypsilanti, Michigan

Formed in the beginning of 2001, Wide-Eyed is Tina Lambright and Patrick Pyne. Despite being a duo, they rotated instruments for recordings to make full, band-oriented songs of varying sounds and styles. Their music can be generally described as experimental pop, or psychedelic rock, but avoiding cliches of any genre. Serious, funny, abstract or direct, despite the dressing, enjoyment is the focus ... more
