Even though the band knew that this album would likely be released on CD/digitally, and may never see a vinyl release, we still approached the song order and flow, from a "2-side" perspective. Even though TECHNICALLY we hadn't decided on the final song order, or even album assignment of which songs would end up on maven or Aurora, until they were all mostly done, sometime in 2006, we still did have some songs, like this one, that we were pretty sure we knew where we wanted them to end up. This song just seemed to fit as a "come down" song to close Side 1 of maven.
Similarly, we knew that (most likely) Side 2 would begin with Water Boiled.

Leaving In The Evening was an attempt to capture that sort of "late dusk" atmosphere, of beginning a drive, maybe a long one, at that time of day. The idea was Tina's, the execution was Patrick's.
